Upcoming Program Information
Occasional Quantity Cooks - A food safety program for Extension employees and Extension volunteers.
Ohio State University Extension recognizes the importance of food service/preparation in communities as a way to bring together stakeholders, recognize participants or volunteers, and in some cases serve as fundraisers for programmatic efforts.
The events themselves are certainly very important, as is the appropriate handling, preparation, and serving of the food. Built upon the Safe Handling for Occasional Quantity Cooks program, this is designed for individuals (Extension volunteers and/or paid staff) providing leadership to the preparation and/or service of food at Ohio State University Extension sponsored events and activities.
Who should take the Occasional Quantity Cooks training?
Anyone who from time to time prepares food that will be served at any 4-H, Master Gardener, or other Extension-supported event.
Why is it important that someone take this training?
Safe food handling is a very important link in the chain of food preparation. Anyone preparing food for an Extension event (including Extension employees) should receive this training to reduce the possibility of food-borne illness transmission, therefore reducing the possibility of Extension being liable for any such transmission because we did not provide our volunteers with proper training about food safety.
